Tokens

An Incident in the Park 1/10/99

I was not sure what this was until I posted it on a metal detecting forum. For a while I though it was a foriegn coin. Turns out it was a token from an arcade called Aladins Castle.

This item came from a nice park in Gainesville, Florida.

Found this token among several wheat pennies in a school yard dating back to the turn of the century. After posting it on a metal detecting forum, I learned it was a token given out by Bear Archery some 35 years ago when they first moved their manufacturing facilities to Gainesville, Florida. I have already been offered $25.00 for it.

I felt the Jacksonville, Florida boys had their beach pretty well cleaned off until I found this token. And I was hard pressed to even find it, what with only sixty-three cents in change to show for two hours hunting.

I found this play dime in a school yard. The metal content weighs and feels the same as a real dime.

It seems most of the tokens and toy money I find, are in school yards.

You never know what you are going to come up with when on the beaches of East Central Florida. The token to the left (front and obverse view) is obviously from a golf course somewhere, maybe close by. This and the other finds are what I recovered at a meet with three other TH'ers at Daytona Beach, Florida.

Here is a typical game token found in a North Central Florida school yard. What game it is for, is beyond me.

This one also came from a school playground but must be for an amusement arcade game.

I have several of these same tokens, so they must be common. Do you have any?

This token obviously must be for a ride on a go-cart. A little rough, but the image can still be seen.

Another tilt token but this one has more use, obviously. Maybe it is older?

Never could find out what this token represented. I located it around five inches of depth at an American Legion Hall parking lot.

This has got to be a token for a game but I have no idea what game. Do you?

A token for Aladin's Magic Castle, no doubt. I do not remember where I found it, but it was probably a school yard somewhere.

This token was found on Port Lucaya Beach, Grand Bahamas Island. About two-hundred yards from where I found it, is a casino. Though I do not frequent the casinos, I think this token has something to do with gambling. Maybe somebody can tell me!
