![]() ![]() Hello! My name is Tom Ivines and I wear several different hats. First and foremost I am an Industrial Arts teacher at one of North Florida's leading public adult education and vocational high schools. I am also an active magazine-newspaper journalist. My syndicated column, "Reflections" can be found in newspapers like the Cedar Key Beacon around the United States. My magazine articles and columns vary in subject from automotive know-how, treasure hunting, RV travel, Florida destinations, humor, to technical free-lance journalism. Many of those articles and columns can be seen on my personal writer's web page. In my spare time I dedicate myself to flying my airplane, metal detecting, and fishing, but metal detecting takes priority. I find myself spending more and more time enjoying this great hobby. Metal detecting is not new to me. I built my first metal detector from a Heathkit in the early 1970's. Soon after I bought my first commercially manufactured detector, a Radio Shack Micronta. I did not take metal detecting serious until eight years ago. With the Heathkit and Radio Shack detector I had earlier, I just puttered around local parks and yards and did not find much more than a few pennies and a lot of nails. Along with the responsibilities of being a young husband and father, I did not have the dedication I do now and lost interest. Somewhere in my many moves with the United States Navy the detectors disappeared. When I decided to try the hobby once again, I borrowed a detector from a good friend. It was amazing and much better than the two detectors I had years earlier. I kept it for over a month before realizing there were others better. When I returned it I knew I had to have another metal detector of my own but of higher quality. The rest is history. I now own two of the very best metal detectors made and have tried and used most every upper brand available. So, now that you know a little about me, I want to show you some of the amazing things I have found. Some of them surpass my own expectations and one of my motivations for doing this site, is so I won't have to keep taking the goodies out of the safe deposit box to look at them. I can simply brows my own web site, and at the same time I can share the finds with you, too. Be aware that most of the photographs are full size for best viewing. They download VERY SLOW! Please be patient and you will be rewarded for your wait. If you want to ENLARGE a photo, simply click on it. Naturally, as I find more items I will add them to this site. I hope you enjoy my "Fantastic Treasures." Always feel free to E-mail me, and please do add to my guest book! I highly value others opinions and comments, especially yours. |
